Beauty goals for 2021 - final results

So did I hit my beauty goals for 2021..?

Final results of beauty goals 2021

Lumene - Instant glow beauty serum (30 ml):
Weight at the start of 2021 (with packaging - as for all of the products): 78 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 70 g
Goal: was to finish it up - I ended up using only 8 g
Kiko - Stick eyeshadow - 05 (1,64 g):
Weight at the start of 2021: 11 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 10 g
Goal: was to use 0,6 g of it - according to the weight I did reach the goal - but I am not so sure, as the scale I use is just a standard kitchen scale
Garnier - 5 sec perfect blur, soothing perfecting primer (30 ml):
Weight at the start of 2021: 34 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 32 g.Goal: use 10 g - I used 2 g
Goal: was to use 10 - I used 2 g - as I used this product probably around 4 times this year I should just stop buying primers
Jergens BB Body perfecting skin cream -all medium to deep skin tones (221 ml):
Weight at the start of 2021: 95 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 41 g
Goal: was to finish it up, well I did not reach it
One direction - Our moment eau de parfum (100 ml):
Weight at the start of 2021: 324 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 304 g
Goal: was to finish it up, but I did use 20 g in the course of 2021
Lumene - Vitamin C+ anti-puffiness roll-on eye serum (10 ml) - (missing on photo):
Weight at the start of 2021: 10 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 8 g (empty packaging)
Goal: was to finish it up, which I did
Clarins - Radiance-Plus golden glow booster (15 ml):
Weight at the start of 2021: 27 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 26 g
Goal was to use half of the remaining product, or get the product line down to the area where "radiance-plus" is written on the packaging. I did use this in the year of 2021, but I did not reach my goal
Essence - Stay all day concealer - 10 natural beige (7 ml):
Weight at the start of 2021: 9 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 7 g (empty packaging without stopper)
Goal: was to use it up, I did reach that goal
Victoria's Secret - lip gloss (13 g):
Weight at the start of 2021: 11 g
Wight at the end of 2021: 9 g
Goal: was to finish it up, ended up using only 2 g
Gina Tricot Beauty - eye-shadow - 42 caramel (1,8 g):
Weight at the start of 2021: 13 g
Weight at the end of 2021: 11 g (I am sure a lot of the product went down the drain though as the shadow kept crumbling).
Goal: was to hit pan, and that goal I did reach.

So all over I only hit 2 of my goals, finished the Lumene C+ vitamine eye cream and hit pan on the Gina Tricot eye-shadow

Other goals:
  1. No impulse buys just because there is a discount - 90% successful - as I was only tempted to buy one gift box in Copenhagen on discount, but still I had had my eye on that gloss for some time. So the other items came as a bonus with the purchase, and at a cheaper price than if I had bought that lip gloss in Iceland by itself
  2. Only one eye-palette purchase in 2021 - Yes I did reach this goal as I did not even buy a single eye shadow palette in 2021
  3. No body lotion purchase in 2021- Yes did not buy a body lotion in 2021
  4. No bronzer purchase in 2021 - Yes did not buy a bronzer in 2021
  5. Keep an ongoing wish-list - Yes I did keep an ongoing wish list
  6. Use nail-polish at least once a month - Did not reach that goal - maybe used nail polish 3 times during 2021!

Beauty goals for 2021

As per usual, I have chosen ten items to focus on in the year of 2021.

My 10 chosen items for 2021

Kiko - Stick eyeshadow - 05 (1,64 g):
Current weight: 11 g
Goal: use 0,6 g of it (about a third of the entire eyeshadow)
Why: For the last 2 years I have focused on one cream eyeshadow each year, and I have hardly used this one at all, so I would like to give it some love before it dries out.
Garnier - 5 sec perfect blur, soothing perfecting primer (30 ml):
Current weight: 34 g
Goal: use 10 g
Why: this is my oldest primer and I want to start to wear primers more.

Current weight: 95 g.
Goal: to finish up.
Why: roll over from Beauty goals of 2020.

Beauty goals for 2020 - final results

So how did my beauty goals for 2020 go?

12 month update

One direction - Our moment eau de parfum (100 ml): This product I swapped out for another parfum in the course of 2020 - as I did not like how yellow the parfum was turning. When I started using it, it was almost full, and have I managed to use a little bit more from the 9 month update, but am not quite half way through the bottle.
Jergens BB Body perfecting skin cream - all medium to deep skin tones (221 ml): As I swapped out this body cream for another, I did not weigh this product until the 9 month update, when I measured it then it weighed 146 g - and I put myself the goal at the end of the year to get the product down to 90 g. I did not reach that goal in three months, but I did get it down to 95 g, which means I managed to use 56 g of this body cream in three months.
Yves Saint Laurent - Volupté tint in oil - No. 4 (6 ml): In the beginning of the year the bottle weighted 25 g - now at the end of the year, with the product not finished and no way of seeing how much is left the bottle weighs 22 g. Which means I used 3 g of the product over the year
Bourjois Paris - Happy light luminous serum primer (15 ml): At the beginning of 2020 the remaining product + packaging weighed 56 g - now after scraping all of the product I can out of the bottle, it weighs 52 g - so I managed to finish this product and the 4 remaining grams that was extractable from the bottle.
Origins - Drink up 10 minute mask to quench skin's thirst (100 ml): When I weighted this bottle in the beginning of the year it weighed 44 g, now with the bottle cut in half and empty it weighs 16 g - which means I managed to finish the remaining 28 g of product. This was a roll-over product from 2019 - and now finally finished.
Maybelline - Color Sensational lipstick - 235 Warm me up (4,2 g): My original goal for this product was to use it up in 2020, but with covid-19, air-travel dropping down, witch meant I hardly went to work until my contract ran out in September, and with mask life, there was very rare opportunities to wear a lipstick. At the beginning of the year it measured 2,3 cm - now 12 months later; 2 cm. So I managed to finish a meager 0,3 cm of it.
Victoria's Secret - Lip gloss (13 g): In January this gloss weighted 15 g, at the 9 month update it weighted 12 g, and now in December 11 g. Total gloss used this year: 4 g.
Youngblood - Mineral rice setting powder - Medium (10 g): At the beginning of the year it weighed 36 g, at the 9 month update 32 g. And as I have not used it since the 9 month update it still weighs 32 g. But I decided to use some pressed powders instead of this one, as I love it so much, and wanted to make some use of the many pressed powders I do have.
Alix Avien - Pearly eyeshadow - Bronze: The goal was to use up 2 cm of this pencil, at the 9 month mark I had used up 0,5 cm of it, and now in December I have used up 0,7 cm.
Clarins - Lipliner pencil - 02 nude beige (1,2 g): My original goal for 2020 was to use half of this pencil that measured 12,5 cm at the beginning of the year. Result: I managed to use up 0,2 cm. I blame Covid-19 and mask life.

My final results have never been as bad before, as I only hit two of my goals for this year. I have always had 10 products in my goals for each year, last year (2019) I hit 4 goals out of 10. In 2018 I hit 6 goals out of 10, and in 2017 I hit 3 goals out of 10.

Other goals for the year were:

  1. No nail polish purchases - successful
  2. No purchases just because there is a discount - I did buy two items in 2020, just because there was a discount: a body butter from The Body Shop, and a sunscreen from Biotherm
  3. Maximum one cream eyeshadow purchase for the year 2020 - successful, as I did not buy even one cream eyehsadow in 2020.
  4. Keep an ongoing wishlist - this I did stick to, and even published one on this blog.
  5. Only one lipstick purchase - successful, as I did not even buy one lip product this year.
But then again 2020 was not quite the average year, with wearing a mask when out and about, resulted in me not even wearing any makeup to speak of. Then also definetly no reason to wear lipsticks as all they would do would be smudging into a face mask. So for sure there was no reason to buy one.

Did you have a goal to finish anything up this year?

Beauty goals for 2020 - 9 month update

It seems a bit weird to be doing an update on my beauty goals for 2020 - one due to Covid 19 and the fact I did swap two of the products out for another two comparable products very early in the year, that is in February or March.
The two products I removed were the following:

Swapped out products

Jucy Couture - Viva La Jucy eau de parfum spray (50 ml): this I swapped out for One direction - Our moment eau de parfum (100 ml). I swapped the two as I believe the parfum from One direction to be closer to expiring than the Jucy Couture parfum. As can be seen in the next picture, the color of the One direction parfum is a slightly amber yellow. Given the fact the color used to be light pink, I would estimate that this bottle is on it's last leg, so I decided to prioritize using One direction over Jucy Couture.
Elizabeth Arden - Green tea honey drops body cream (500 ml): this I swapped out for Jergens BB Body perfecting skin cream - all medium to deep skin tones (221 ml). This I decided to take into the mission for the year, as it is a tad older than the cream from Elizabeth Arden.
There is no point in putting in pictures of the new products from the start, as I did not take any.

9 month update

One direction - Our moment eau de parfum (100 ml): When I started using this parfum early this year, it was almost full, and the liquid inside reached higher than the "Our moment" text on the glass bottle. Goal: use as much as I can.
Jergens BB Body perfecting skin cream - all medium to deep skin tones (221 ml): I did not measure this product when I started using it this year, but now it weighs 146 g. Goal for the remaining 3 months of the year. Get it down to 90 g. But this product I can only use on my legs, as I did get red on the inside of my elbows after applying this on my arms just before going to bed. The dedication to use stuff up, seriously, why do I not just throw this out?
Yves Saint Laurent - Volupté tint in oil - No. 4 (6 ml): At the start of the year the bottle weighed 25 g, now the wight fluctuates between 24 and 25 g, on a standard baking scale (hint hint not super accurate). That said this is one of the few lip products I still remain to use this year, as it is oil based, and hence nourishing for the lips in some sense. But with Covid 19 travel restrictions, the workload for cabin crew has been minimal since mid March. And the occasion to wear colored lip products are few and far between.
Bourjois Paris - Happy light luminous serum primer (15 ml): When I started the "project" in January the remaining product with packaging weight in at 56 g - now it weighs 54 g - which means I have used 2 grams. And only a few applications of primer remain (but I hardly ever use primer on all of my face. And having to wear makeup way less for work, it is very slow going.
Origins - Drink up 10 minute mask to quench skin's thirst (100 ml): At the beginning of the year the bottle weighted 44 g, now, empty it weights meager 18 g. Meaning I have managed to use 26 g of facial mask this year. This was a roll-over product from 2019, and way over due to get finished up. And I already have another Origins mask going.
Maybelline - Color Sensational lipstick - 235 Warm me up (4,2 g): At the start of the year the lipstick measured at 2,3 cm, and I swear it still measures 2,3 cm, even though I am certain I did use it to go to work tor the half a normal month I had of work (sin mask) in March.
Victoria's Secret - Lip gloss (13 g): Remaining product with packaging was 15 g, now it is 12 g and visible progress can be seen on the tube. But in deed it is really my favorite lip gloss, even though it is probably full of mineral oil, but it keeps my lips moisturized better than my Hurraw lip balm.
Youngblood - Mineral rice setting powder - Medium (10 g): Weighed 36 g at the beginning of the year, now it weighs 32 g, and not a lot remains. I love this powder, and when I have made some dent in my compact powders I will 100% repurchase.
Alix Avien - Pearly eyeshadow - Bronze: My goal for 2020 was to use 2 cm of this eyeshadow pencil, which at the beginning of the year measured 7 cm, so far I have only used 0,5 cm of it. That even when this has been my go to eyeshadow!
Clarins - Lipliner pencil - 02 nude beige (1,2 g): In January it measured from end to tip 12,5 cm, and with the Covid 19 situation, and how rare I use lipsticks, it has not been touched more than three times all year, and at most have used up 0,2 cm.

Beauty goals for 2020

Since the year 2017 I have chosen 10 beauty products each year to focus on for the year, this year being no different.

The products for my beauty goals for 2020

So here come the ten products I decided to focus on for the year 2020, and the reasons why I chose them:
Yves Saint Laurent - Volupté tint in oil - No. 4 (6 ml): Remaining product with packaging 25 g: As this is a lip oil I purchased a few years back, so it is about time for me to use it up, before the oil in the product goes off and becomes unusable. As well as this seems to be a discontinued product from YSL.
Bourjois Paris - Happy light luminous serum primer (15 ml): Remaining product with packaging 56 g: This is the first of two roll over products from 2019. There is just a tiny little bit left, but a small amount goes a long way, and in all honesty I really need a one give me product or two.
Jucy Couture - Viva La Jucy eau de parfum spray (50 ml): Remaining product with packaging 291 g: As this is one of my older perfumes, it is about time for me to use it up before it goes bad. I love the smell far to much to let it go to waste, plus the fact that the color of the perfume seems to have darkened a little bit, which could be an indicator that the scent is about to turn off.
Elizabeth Arden - Green tea honey drops body cream (500 ml): Remaining product with packaging 427 g: So many of my friends have recommended this body cream, so I bought it at the CPH airport a few years back, and have barely used it. As it is an expensive product, and contains mineral oil (which I try not to buy these days), it is due time for it to get used up!
Origins - Drink up 10 minute mask to quench skin's thirst (100 ml): Remaining product with packaging 44 g:This is a roll-over product from 2019. No matter how much effort I put into finishing this product last year I just was not able to finish it. So now in 2020 I really have to grab the bull by the horns and put mask Mondays firmly into place and knock this product out.
Maybelline - Color Sensational lipstick - 235 Warm me up (4,2 g): Remaining product from base of lipstick 2,3 cm: This is one of the older lipstick I own, and seems not to agree with my perioral dermatitis, but I do love the color and want to use it up. I mainly use it for work, and I do not go in every day, so my skin seems to tolerate it in moderate dosages. When it is done, I am for sure going to get a Mac lipstick that is super similar in Modesty - sometime in the future - right after the project? Hopefully not, as I have a lot of lip products to burn through.
Victoria's Secret - Lip gloss (13 g): Remaining product with packaging 15 g: One of the oldest lip glosses I own, and way due to get used up.
Youngblood - Mineral rice setting powder - Medium (10 g): Remaining product with packaging 36 g: Actually this is my only loose powder, but I have several setting powders that I have not broken into yet, in any real way. So I want to knock this one out, to have one less setting powder in my stash.
Alix Avien - Pearly eyeshadow - Bronze: Remaining product from end to tip 7 cm: I thought it could be an excellent idea to focus on one cream eyeshadow product each year. To make sure I am getting some use out of them before they dry out on me, as well as to defer me from buying a whole lot of them, just for them to sit in my collection and go bad. And as I used this in December 2019 I could feel it was not as creamy as when I purchased it, and it is the second oldest cream eyeshadow I have in my collection (after Maybelline color tattoo, which was in my "Beauty goals for 2019"), it was a no brainer to put it in this project. My goal? To use 2 cm of it this year.
Clarins - Lipliner pencil - 02 nude beige (1,2 g): Remaining product from end to tip 12,5 cm: I rarely use lip pencils at all, so as I have five of them in my stash, it was a perfect idea to put one of the older one into this project, as a reminder, both to use lip liners, and to defer me from buying any more of them. My goal is to use half of it up.

Other goals for 2020:

  1. No nail polish purchases
  2. No purchases just because there is a discount
  3. Maximum one cream eyeshadow purchase for the year 2020
  4. Maximum two eyeshadow palette purchases in 2020
  5. Keep an ongoing wishlist
  6. Only one lipstick purchase

Do you have plans to empty something in the coming year?

Beauty goals for 2018 - results

So as it has come to the end of the year, it is time for an update on my "Beauty goals for 2018" where I planned to finish ten selected items from my collection.
So out of the ten items I planned to finish or hit pan on, I was successful on seven of the items.

Five products that I finished marked with X (original photo)

I did finish my Lancome kohl pencil

Two fails and reached my goal to hit pan on one (marked with /)

Did not finish this one but managed to use up about 1/3

So I reached my goals on seven of the ten items, and the items I reached my goals on were:
Dove - intense repair overnight cream (120 ml): used up 1/3 of the product that was left.
The body shop - Vitamin C skin boost (30 ml): estimated 6-10 ml used up.
Dove - Repair therapy, Color radiance hair mask (200 ml): used up the remaining 3-4 applications.
Wet and wild - nail polish in the color 442A (14 ml): when this got too thick and difficult to apply, I finally gave up on it, I had originally 4-6 ml left. And maybe I was able to use up about half of the remaining product.
Victoria's secret - Unwrap me, beauty rush, whipped cream and winter pear, body dial-a-shimmer lotion (200 ml): this item probably had about 100 ml left when I started the project. The pump on it broke early on, so I ended up depotting it and use it up from a different container.
Lancome le crayon kohl noir (0,7 g): it started the year 2018 as a 3,5 cm long pencil and was I able to use it until it became 2,5 cm long, at which point the kohl itself fell out of the pencil. And to use that 1 cm took me almost the entire year.
Maybelline - depotted eyeshadow in a champagne shimmery color: this item was a roll over product from 2017, and whas my goal to hit pan on the eyeshadow. Which I managed to do in early January.

So the three remaining items I did not reach my goals on were:
Clinique - Blush in Fig (1,8 g): this is a depotted "gift with purchase" blush, and if I compare how the pan looked in the beginning of the year, I perhaps finished a little less than half of the blush I started the year with. OMG and this has been my primary blush of the year, and I probably finished less than 1 gram of it - BUT it is a very pigmented blush and I only need a tiny bit of it to give me a nice rouge on my cheeks.
Estée Lauder - Double wear, stay in place powder makeup SPF 10 (16 g) - color 2N2 Fresco 01: I acknowledged the fact that it would be hard to use this foundation up in the year as the pan was and still is quite thick on the sides. And as can be seen this goal was far from reached. As a matter of a fact I kind of gave up in the middle of the year and abandoned this as my main foundation, and used Cover Girl - Ready set gorgeous, which I hauled in 2015.
Bourjois Paris - Happy light luminous serum primer (15 ml): from the point I started the year until now, I have probably used up just over 1/3 of the product, so about 5-6 ml of product I have managed to use.

So all over I am pretty glad about my success, as there was more success than failure for sure. And super glad that I was finally able to use up the Lancome le crayon kohl noir, which I first put in a project pan for the year 2016 - so it "only" took three years to finish up.

Did you do a project pan this year?

Final USA + CAN haul 2018

In my last few stops in the States and Canada I grabbed a few items

The ultimate haul

Nurse Jamie - Uplift massaging beauty roller - 69 USD: As I saw Tati on Youtube highly recommending this item I decided to treat myself with buying it - decided to get it in black, as I prefer that color instead of the original purple. Intended use for myself, is to diminish my slowly emerging double-chin.
Mac - Eye kohl in Teddy - 22,05 CAD: As this has been on my wish-list for a few years, I decided to grab it in Toronto duty free.
Laneige - Lip sleeping mask - 20 USD: A makeup artist acquaintance of mine highly recommended this lip mask, so ofc I had to pick it up and give it a try as my lips tend to be super dry in the winter.
Sephora Collection - Waterproof eye makeup remover (125 ml) - 15 USD: A friend of mine who is just as much or even more into makeup than I am, recommended this product, and stated it works just as good as the Lancome bi-facil eye makeup remover, at a fraction of the cost I decided to pick it up and give it a try.
Tom Ford - Bronzer brush 05 - 115 USD: This brush had so many good reviews online and on youtube, I really wanted to buy it. Originally I had planned to buy it next year, but as I heard from Michelle Wang on Youtube that Tom Ford is planning to change it's brushes into synthetic hair I decided to grab it this year as I prefer natural hair bristles over synthetic ones. And omg is this brush a dream. It is the softest face brush I own. I would love to own more of his brushes but the price tag is way to expensive, so I will just treasure this one.
Victorias Secret - Love eau de parfum roller ball (15 ml)22 11 CAD (offer): Another fragrance was the last thing I need in my already too big of a perfume collection. But as it was on 50% off I decided to grab it - and in a roller ball version.
Pixi by Petra - Glow-y gossamer duo in Subtle sunrise ( - 16 USD: As I only own one highlighter, which is a cream-stick highlighter I wanted to try a powder one. I was trying to decide between a mini Bobbi Brown highlighter in pink light and this one by Pixi. After much contemplation and testing and swatching I opted for the Pixi one, as I found the Bobby Brown one a tad too glittery.
Real techniques - Blush brush - 8.99 USD: For some reason it was really important for me to grab this brush, but now when I have it, I have no idea why it was so important to get it.

So now I have managed to purchase two more items of my 18 item limit (which is my updated limit - original limit was 12 items of color cosmetics). Those two items being Mac Teddy eye kohl and Pixi by Petra highlighter, which brings my total to 17 items in 2018. Only one left - and if I can do without that is even better.

Empties May - August 2018

So here come the empties for the summer of 2018

Empties summer 2018

Bath and body works - Farmstand apple hand cream (59 ml): An above average hand cream, I might repurchase.
Wet and wild - nailpolish in the color 442A (14 ml): As I loved this color, and it was hard to replace, I am still glad this is finished and one bottle less in my pile of nail polish - maybe I will pan another one in 2019.
Dove - Repair therapy, Color radiance hair mask (200 ml): talked about this one in my last beauty goals update (see here).
Herbal essences - hydralicious reconditioning shampoo (300 ml): One of my favorite shampoo's and it has been ever since my hair was super dehydrated from bleaching it a few years ago. Have been trying to find it in Target in the USA without success.
La Roche-Posay - Toleriane ultra face cream (40 ml): Loved this face cream for the summer, ultra light and did not irritate my skin at all. The only downside is how difficult it is to get the last drop of product out of the packaging, as I attacked it with a knife to break into it.
Victoria's secret - Unwrap me, beauty rush, whipped cream and winter pear, body dial-a-shimmer lotion (200 ml): finally this bottle is finished, and omg what an effort it took, had to depot it into other jars to use it up while on holiday, and at home. Even though I am ecstatic that it is finished, I will miss the shimmer in it a bit though.
BIO Effect - EGF serum (3 ml): it is a super moisturizing serum which I use underneath my day cream, a bit on the sticky side though.
Helena Rubinstein - All mascaras complete eye makeup remover (125 ml): I did not find this makeup remover to work as well as my Estee Lauder bi-facil eye makeup reomover. Maybe it works good on regular mascaras, but on water proof and stubborn ones it does not work as well as bi-facil.
Erborian - BB cream au ginseng (sample): Love this bb cream, would love to repurchase, but am not sure on the SPF ingredients in it. A lovely light but a bit orangy formula, but it works fine now as I have worked up a bit of a tan over the summer. Reminds me a bit of my favorite Garnier miracle cream.
It Cosmetics - Your skin but better CC+ cream with SPF 50+ (fair) (sample): I am on the fence with this product after using the sample up, it is very pigmented, but still light on the skin. But it might be a little bit too pigmented for my liking, as I like a very sheer foundation on my skin most of the time. Might repurchase in the future though.
Inglot - Beautyfier tinted cream, shade 101 (sample): I loved the texture of this light "foundation" or bb-cream. But not sure it was working with my perioral dermatitis. I found some irritation in my skin on occasion. So not a winner, sadly, as I really wanted it to be. Full info here.
The body shop - Pink grapefruit hand cream (30 ml): a light and pleasant smelling hand cream, but after I started working as cabin crew, my hands have become severely dehydrated, and this was not moisturizing enough for my dehydrated hands. Before that job, I could though not see any fault with it.
Tatcha - The water cream (1 ml) (sample): See description in this post.
Mádara - City CC -hyluronic anti-pollution cc cream SPF 15: I am not sure if this was aggravating my perioral dermatitis breakout, as I was using this in conjunction with my Ready set gorgeous foundation from Cover Girl. Will report back when I try to find out which one is the culprit.
Neutrogena - Light sesame formula body lotion: This has been living in my gym bag for years, along with a few other hotel body lotions, so now this summer I decided it was about time to use some of these samples up and get rid of them. So this is the first of them, was it good, no, I would say below average body lotion.

So now three more items of my Beauty goals for 2018 are used up, leaving me five items which I have yet to reach my goal on; Dove - intense repair overnight cream (120 ml), Bourjois Paris - Happy light luminous serum primer (15 ml), Estée Lauder - Double wear, stay in place powder makeup SPF10 (16 g) - color 2N2 Fresco 01, Lancome le crayon kohl noir (0,7 g) and my Clinique - Blush in Fig (1,8 g). So five items left when there are 4 months remaining of this year. Not an optimum situation, as I had hoped I would have finished more items by this point of the year. But realistically I am sure I can finish the Dove hair cream, the Lancome eye kohl pencil and perhaps the Bourjois primer. But as the year has progressed I am not sure I will be able to finish the Estée Lauder powder foundation or the Clinique blush as there is so much remaining of those products, as could be seen in my six month update for the Beauty goals for 2018.

Beauty goals for 2018 - Six month update

As it is about six months into my year long project to pan or finish my ten items for the year 2018 (original post here), so I figured it would be about time to give an update into how the project is going so far.

I have reached my goal for four of the items from the project pan

I have finished two of the items which are as follows:

The body shop - Vitamin C skin boost (30 ml): I managed to finish this product up, it was a kind of a serum/primer - will probably not repurchase as I did not like the consistency of the cream - as it had a bit of a silicone feeling to it - but I prefer more creamy or liquid products.
Dove - Repair therapy, Color radiance hair mask (200 ml): managed to use this one up, but it only had about 3-4 applications left.

Empties - orignial photo from December 2017.

The other two items I have reached my goal on are these two:

Wet and wild - nailpolish in the color 442A (14 ml): this has finally reached the point that it's almost impossible to use, it is super thick and takes FOREVER to dry - but I really love the color and as it turns out it has been hard to replace.
Maybelline - depotted eyeshadow in a champagne shimmery color: my goal on this product was to hit pan, and was a roll-over product from 2017. And in fact I managed to hit pan early January!

Over night hair mask - nail polish - primer

Eye kohl - eye shadow - blush - foundadtion

The progress on other products:

Dove - intense repair overnight cream (120 ml): I have used a little less than half of what was left of the overnight hair mask, I for sure have to use it more consistently for the remainder of the year.
Bourjois Paris - Happy light luminous serum primer (15 ml): Sadly I did not mark this product in the start of the year, but it is clear I have used very little of it. So I will for sure have to use it more consistently for the next six months.
Lancome le crayon kohl noir (0,7 g): At the start of this year this measured 3,5 cm and now it measures 3 cm long. So in six months I have managed to use up 0,5 cm of it.
Clinique - Blush in Fig (1,8 g): I have for sure expanded the pan on this blush since the beginning of the project. But I am not using it right now, as I am giving it a bit of a break over the summer, so I can use some of my other blushes.
Estée Lauder - Double wear, stay in place powder makeup SPF 10 (16 g) - color 2N2 Fresco 01: I can see a small "wear" in this one, at the beginning of the year only a quarter of the pan rings was showing, but now the entire ring is showing. But according to this progress, I might think it is impossible for me to use this item up in this year. But all progress is good, and I will keep using it, it is one of my favorite foundations, and better yet, it does not seem to aggravate my perioral dermatitis.

And then there is one item missing in the photos, as the pump broke on my body lotion:

Victoria's secret - Unwrap me, beauty rush, whipped cream and winter pear, body dial-a-shimmer lotion (200 ml): as the pump broke on this one, I managed to crank it open and depot it, I reckon I have finished half of it - which is quite convenient as then I will for sure manage to finish it before the end of the year.

Have you had any progress on your goals for 2018?

Empties January 2018

In the first month of 2018 I managed of finish up a few items, three of which were left from my Beauty goals 2017

January empties 2018

Victoria's Secret - Beauty rush - Candy baby - body double mist (250 ml): as I predicted I was able to finish this item this month
The body shop - Vitamin E face mist (100 ml): absolutely love this face mist, will 100% buy again - and the new version also does not have any parabens in it - so that is a good development.
Maybelline - Instant age rewind eraser dark circles - light pale (6 ml): this I finished up quicker than I predicted, at the end of December 2017 I thought it would last me 2 months - when it only lasted for the two first weeks of January or so.
Sephora - moisturizing and soothing - Lotus face mask (22 gr): a single use facial sheet mask, it was absolutely soaked in product, to the point I found it a bit wasteful how much dripped of when I was applying it, But I really felt the moisture the mask gave, and my skin felt extra moisturized for about 2 days or so.
Erborian - BB créme au ginseng (? ml): this tester I got as a bonus in Sephora in Copenhagen 2016, so it was about time to try it, this small packet lasted for over a week, and was a dream to apply. It is perfect to spread out on your face with your fingers, which is my favorite BB cream formula, totally fuss free. It is a bit dark for me at the moment, as my skin is at it's palest. It will be perfect during the summer when I will be missing a foundation for my summer tan. The only question mark I put on it, is the SPF in it, as it claims to contain broad-spectrum spf of 20, so I wonder if it might start my perioral dermatitis to flare up.

But a very good start to the year 2018

Beauty goals for 2018

Now at the start of a new year, it is time to pick out which 10 items to finish up, or hit pan on in the year of 2018. And considering how poorly I did with the products on my beauty goals in 2017 - I will have to aim to finish one product a month approximately this coming year to keep the ball rolling, and manage to finish the items before the end of the year.

Hair, cream and nail polish products to use up in 2018
Foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow and a blush to use up in 2018

The ten items I picked this year are the following:
Dove - Intense repair overnight cream (120 ml): a little less than 1/3 of the hair cream is left, and the mission this year is to finish it up.
The body shop - Vitamin C skin boost (30 ml): of this cream probably 6-10 ml remain, and will aim to finish it up in the year to come.
Bourjois Paris - Happy light luminous serum primer (15 ml): I have only used this primer a handful of times, so it's about time to get some good use out of it, and finish it up.
Dove - Repair therapy, Colour radiance hair mask (200 ml): a decent mask for hair, there are only a handful of applications left in the tub, but it's about time to finish it up.
Wet and wild - nailpolish in the colour 442A (14 ml): one of my oldest nail polishes I have in my collection, and also the one that has the least amount of product left, estimating somewhere inbetween 4-6 ml left. Goal? To finish it up, or use it until it gets to thick to work with.
Victoria's secret - Unwrap me, beauty rush, whipped cream and winter pear, body dial-a-shimmer lotion (200 ml): a lovely shimmering body lotion, where you can adjust the level of shimmer you pump out each time. Goal? To finish it.
Estée Lauder - Double wear, stay in place powder makeup SPF 10 (16 g) - colour 2N2 Fresco 01: One of my oldest foundations, and I have actually already hit pan on it, so this year I am going to make an effort to use it up completely. But it might proof to be hard to do as the pan is quite thick on the sides.
Lancome le crayon kohl noir (0,7 g): this item is a roll over product from last year. And starts the year 2018 at 3,5 cm long.
Maybelline - depotted eyeshadow in a champagne shimmery colour: this is also a roll over product from last year, the goal remains to hit pan - which seams to be harder than one could imagine.
Clinique - Blush in Fig (1,8 g): this is a blush I got as a gift with purchase, but as the pan in that palette was so tiny I decided to depot it into this empty Elf pan, which makes it so much easier to use. But I would love to finish this blush this year, specially when it is only 1,8 grams - and I have used some of it already. But I find it amazing how much 1,8 g is really, it sounds as a tiny amount, but this will take some time to use up though.

My second goal for this year, is to put a 12 item limit for the year of new makeup products and nail polishes (so I guess I would say a 12 item limit on color cosmetics). As I have more makeup than I can ever use, I really want to purchase fewer items, and get to use and enjoy the items I already have this year.

What are your goals for 2018?

Beauty goals for 2017 - results

Of the ten products I planned to use up or pan in 2017 I hit my goals on only five products - which is only 50% of the original goal, but fortunately there is not much left of the items I did not manage to finish up.

Products used up from Beauty goals for 2017

I managed to finish the following products:
Lumene body magic - hydra luminous body lotion (200 ml): goal is to finish this up - as a matter of fact there are only a few uses left I guess... but this is one of my oldest products I own, so it needs to be used up.
Hollister - So Cal - perfume (75 ml): a discontinued fragrance by Hollister, love the scent, but is one of my older fragrances so I want to make a sure I use it up before it goes bad.
Burt's Bees - gloss - 203 Autumn haze (5 ml): I managed to use almost half of this in 2016 - so the goal for 2017 is to use the rest of it up.

Products I hit pan on as a part of Beauty goals for 2017

Then I managed to hit pan on two of the three products I wanted to hit pan on this year:
Maybelline - colour tattoo 24hr - gel cream eyeshadow - 35 on and on bronze
Bourjois Paris - Smokey eyes trio - 09 Lady vert de gris (4,5 g) - the middle shade (the lighter brown grey colour)

The five remaining products

So the products that still remain are:
Victoria's Secret - Beauty rush - Candy baby - body double mist (250 ml): only a few uses remain of this product - I am sure I will finish it before the end of January.
The body shop - Vitamin E face mist (100 ml): I can only blame myself about not reaching my goals on this product, as I was not using it at all majority of the year.
Maybelline - Instant age rewind eraser dark circles - light pale (6 ml): just a tiny bit remains of this product, or about 2 mm at the bottom of the container - I predict it will be finished latest at the end of February.
Lancome le crayon kohl noir (0,7 g): I started this year with 4,5 cm remaining of this item, and currently it is 3,5 cm - so I only managed to use up about 1 cm of this eyeliner. But luckily it is getting shorter, and soon it will be impossible to sharpen - then this eyeliner will finally be finished. But the formula of this kohl pencil is a bit stiff, which I assume is the reason it is so difficult to use up. But compared to last year, when I managed to use about 2 cm of this product, I must have done my eyes about 50% less this year, compared to last year, which can totally add up as I was writing my thesis from mid March untill the end of August, and did not wear a lot of makeup during that time.
Maybelline - depotted eyeshadow in a champagne shimmery colour: also I did not manage to hit pan on this item.

Merry Christmas

Beauty goals for 2017

Ok straight into next project 10 use it up (or project pan)

These are the ten products that need to be used up in my collection as of late

First six products

The last four products

Lumene body magic - hydra luminous body lotion (200 ml): goal is to finish this up - as a matter of fact there are only a few uses left I guess... but this is one of my oldest products I own, so it needs to be used up.
Victoria's Secret - Beauty rush - Candy baby - body double mist (250 ml): goal use it completely up - have a few newer body sprays that I need to start using.
The body shop - Vitamin E face mist (100 ml): maybe 1/6 left of this facial mist, body shop has recently changed the packaging and removed parabens from the formula - will for sure buy again.
Hollister - So Cal - perfume (75 ml): a discontinued fragrance by Hollister, love the scent, but is one of my older fragrances so I want to make a sure I use it up before it goes bad.
Maybelline - Instant age rewind eraser dark circles - light pale (6 ml): the goal is to use this up.
Burt's Bees - gloss - 203 Autumn haze (5 ml): I managed to use almost half of this in 2016 - so the goal for 2017 is to use the rest of it up.
Maybelline - colour tattoo 24hr - gel cream eyeshadow - 35 on and on bronze: this has started to dry up and I have not used it so mutch, so the goal for this product is to hit pan and get some use out of it before it goes bad.
Lancome le crayon kohl noir (0,7 g): this was a part of the beauty goals for 2016, and I estimate I used about 2 cm of the pencil, and given the fact it was my main eyeliner I used 90% of the time when I did my makeup. Remaining are 4,5 cm of the pencil.
Maybelline - depotted eyeshadow in a champagne shimmery colour: my mission is to hit pan on this shadow, but I mainly use it in my inner corner of my eye and under the brow as a highlight.
Bourjois Paris - Smokey eyes trio - 09 Lady vert de gris (4,5 g): the goal with this trio is to hit pan on the middle shade (the lighter brown grey colour). But this colour is the perfect crease colour, then I mix it with the darker brown and use in my eyebrows.

So that concludes the

Beauty goals for 2016 - update 3 - final update

At the end of the year 2015 I put a goal to finish up 10 products, of those 10 products I managed to finish 8, see picture below;

Finished products 2016

So what is left is the eyeliner and the gloss (which I replaced with a Burt's Bees gloss)

The rest of the Lancome black Kohl eyeliner
(the blush is a repressed Clinique blush not in the project)

The Burt's Bees gloss in Autumn Haze

The gloss is just millimeters from the set goal of using half of the gloss up, the eyeliner seems to be holding on for dear life, and could even take me another year to finish. Probably because it is fairly dry. But it is really the only eyeliner I have used for the entire year! And I have only used 1-2 cm of it as it seems. And I have a bunch of other liners waiting to be used. So I have learned it takes about a year to finish half a gloss. That should really hold me back in future purchases. But overall I am really glad that the products I used up are out of my collection, and have been saved from going bad.

So next is just to decide goals and products for next year, 2017!

Empties August - December 2016

So here come the products I managed to finish up during my stay in Copenhagen, August untill December 2016

Products used up in August - December 2016

Elf mineral eyeshadow primer, very good primer, finished up, and it was a part of my beauty goals for 2016
Revlon moisture stay lip tint in sheer spice 07; was depoted into the little round jar, is completely finished up, and was a part of beauty goals 2016.
The body shop total energy exhilirating body wash; a 10 ml sample which has been in my collection for a very long time - pleasant with scrubbing particles in.
Janssen cosmetics hydrating lotion; this product was really nice, while hydrating my skin it did not irritate the perioral dermatitis. Will for sure repurchase.
Emporio Armani Diamonds body lotion; this was gifted to me for x-mas a few years back as a perfume and body lotion set - it was nice and the scent lingered on my skin for some time afterwards.
Cover Girl clump crusher mascara; a really nice mascara, would repurchase if it was sold in Iceland.
Clarins foaming body exfoliator; the scrub particles in this product are really nice, but I just hate the smell of the "standard" Clarins body products, and would thus not repurchase.
Victoria's Secret Very Sexy sheer sexy mist; I finally used this product up, which was a part of my beauty goals 2016. I used it as a body spray and as a perfume. Will not repurchase, the smell was not unpleasant, but got really tired of it.

Beauty goals for 2016 - update 1

So here is an update on all the items I included in my beauty goals for 2016, after about three months use:

the first five products

I finished the Aerie roll on eau de toilette in Sheer - it took over two months to finhish 1/3 of a 7,5 ml bottle. Glad that got used up before it turned bad.
The elf blush in mellow mauve I have owned for almost 3 years now, and used it on a daily basis probably for over a year and a half. Which is a crazy long time for a blush to last it was in total 4,75 grams. The rest of it fell into the sink today, and I was so tired of it I made no attempt to save it from being washed into the ocean. What was left was probably 2-3 months worth of every day use of this blush, which would have made it last for almost 2 years of everyday ware. So when I buy blush in the future now I know how long it will last according to the weight, but then it also depends on the pigmentation on how much you want to use each time.
I made a small progress on the Lancome le crayon kohl noir even though I have used it almost every day since the end of January. I do not understand how girls go so fast through these pencils - but I do not sharpen it every day.
I use the depotted Clinique chubby stick in whole lotta honey every day in the morning as it needs to be applied with a pencil, which makes it very unhandy to put in your purse. So a slow progress is being made on this one.
The Boots no 7 eyeshadow (depotted from a trio - a pinky purple shade) I use every day in my crease, on my lid I use a light pink shimmery shade. I can see quite the process on this one, but the shadow was a bit thinner in the area where the pan is showing compared to what is left of it in the pan.
The elf mineral eyeshadow primer in sheer is on it's last leg, the formula has become quite dry and will only be used a few more times. The Garnier roll-on anti-dark circles in 02 is still going strong and seems to be bottom-less. I have to leave the product upside-down though to be able to get any product out, but it does never seem to be close to empty.

Victorias secret very sexy sheer sexy mist

On the Victoria's secret very sexy sheer sexy mist I have made some progress on this 75 ml bottle, last time the product reached between the X and Y letters in SEXY - now it is about one letter below that - which I will mark with a pen right now!
One product I have used the least is the Revlon moisture stay lip tint in sheer spice 07, I used about 4 times, or untill I could not apply it straight from the bullet. Will finish the chubby stick before depotting this one into the same box the chubby stick is in right now.

I threw the Guerlain Terracotta lip gloss in Terre d'or out of the project as it had started to seperate and smell like plastic. I replaced it wit two lip glosses one of them is the Burt's bees lipgloss in 203 Autumn haze, since I started using it in the end of January, brand new, I have already finished about 1/3 of the product as you can see on the colour line. This is a very thick gloss, so I actually had to let the bottle sit in the sun to try to warm the product up to see the progress I made. The other gloss is almost brand new: Dior Addict gloss in 643 Diablotine - so the one I finish first the half of - I will consider done with the Guerlain gloss, as it was only half left of it.

What this goal has taught me so far it that it takes forever to finish a blush, and it is such a pain to try to finish one, so I will try not to have more in my collection than 2-3, and will not put one in a "project pan" ever again.
Lipglosses are easier to finish than I thought, you just have to keep it in your purse and apply at least 3 times a day to see some progress.

Empties 2012

These are not all of the empties of last year, but some of them.

Empties 2012

Orlane, Normalane astringent soothing lotion for mixed and oily skin.
- This toner was not good, didn't do anything for me, as using nothing at all.

Neutrogena, ageless essentials continous hydration face cream with 25 SPF.
- When I started to use this last summer it was ok, but now this winter it broke me out, so I have stopped using it (even though it's not emptly) not to be bought again or ever used again, new home; the trash.

- Victoria's secret, fragrant body splash in Love spell.
This I bought ages ago, and finally finished now. The smell is always as nice even though the purple colour went out of the water as I made the crucial mistake of storing the bottle in direct sunlight (in my batroom window).

Sothys Hydradvace, intensive hydrating serum.
- A great serum works really well with my Hydradvance moisturizing cream. The only downside: it contains parabens, and thus will not be bought again - even though I REALLY want to. Really good product.

Boots, Botanics skin brightening toner.
- The best toner I have ever used, really gentle on the skin and does brighten the skin. Will definetly buy again, too bad there is not a Boots store in Iceland.

The body shop, hi-shine lip treatment (gloss).
- They have changed the packaging at the body shop, this is a 13 ml tube (cut in half), now they have a 14 ml. My tube doesn't have a colour indication on the bottle, but I think it's closes to party pink in the line they have now. It was a little bit too glittery for my liking, as I could just feel a little bit of glitter particles on my lips. Plus the bottle is way too big and lasts forever. Which could be good for some, but I like to switch out my glosses more often, so smaller bottles for me please.

N.Y.C. liquid lipstick in 433A Christine.
- I don't think N.Y.C. makes this anymore, at least not in this packaging. A really nice orange colour and small enough sparkles so I don't feel them on my lips.

Have you tried any of these?

Ella
