Project pan 2022 - final results

So now it's time for the final results of my project pan 2022 - (compared to how things looked at the beginning of 2022)

Products in my project pan 2022

Progress of a Mac paint-pot and Milani powder

Yves Saint Laurent - Volupté tint in oil - No. 4 (6 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022 (with packaging - as for all of the products): 20 g
Wight at the end of 2022: 18 g (without stopper)
Goal: Finish it
Did I reach my goal: YES
Milk Makeup – Lip+Cheek – Werk (6 g):
Weight at the start of 2022: 20 g
Wight at the end of 2022: 18 g
Goal: Use this as my primary cheek product for 2022
Did I reach my goal: No, nowhere close, but maybe something close to 2 g?
Elizabeth Arden – Green tea honey drops body cream (500 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 368 g
Weight at the end of 2022: 245 g
Goal: Finish it up
Did I reach my goal: No, but I did use 123 grams of product, and this from the look of it, I have managed to use half of the product that was in the jar at the start of the year.
Estée Lauder – Advanced night repair (7 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 16 g
Weight at the end of 2022: 12 g
Goal: Use it up
Did I reach my goal: YES
Grande lash MD – Lash enhancing serum (2 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 20 g
Wight at the end of 2022: 18 g
Goal: Use it 2x a week
Did I reach my goal: Well no, but I started the year out by using it 2x a week, that soon faded into nothing. Then when I visited this product again in November and used it a few times in a row, my eyes became super watery in the morning. And after watching a Youtube video about the active ingredient in this serum I did not want to use it again, and poured the remaining product out.
Lumene – Instant glow beauty serum (30 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 70 g
Weight at the end of 2022: 65 g
Goal: Finish it up
Did I reach my goal: YES
Lancóme – Hydra Zen Jelly mask (15 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 18 g
Weight at the end of 2022: 11 g
Goal: Use it up
Did I reach my goal: Not quite, but did use 7 grams according to the weigh in.
Mac – Pro long wear paint pot – Groundwork (5 g):
Weight at the start of 2022: 53 g
Weight at the end of 2022: 53 g
Goal: See a difference in the dip in the pan
Did I reach my goal: No, I kind of put this product aside, and continued to use up the Gina Tricot eyeshadow that was a part of my Beauty goals for 2021
Milani – Prep+Set+Glow illuminating transparent powder (8,5 g):
Weight at the start of 2022: 43 g
Weight at the end of 2022: 42 g
Goal: Hit pan
Did I reach my goal: No, but I did use it as my main setting powder for the entire year 2022 - and according to this I barely used 1 gram of product, and even less as I had to scrape a hard pan from the top of this powder.
Clarins – Lipliner pencil – 02 nude beige (1,2 g):
Length at the start of 2022: 12 cm
Length at the end of 2022: 11.6 cm
Goal: Use 2 cm of product
Did I reach my goal: No, I did not even reach quarter of the goal I had set for the year.

This year I decided to add on a few extras:
Crest – Noticeably white whitestrips – dental whitening kit (20 total strips):
Number of packs at the start of 2022: 5 packs of strips
Number of packs at the end of 2022: 0
Goal: Use it up
Did I reach my goal: YES
Dr. Bragi – Marine enzyme intensive treatment mask (10 ml):
Number of masks: 1
Goal: Use it
Did I reach my goal: YES
Skyn Iceland - Hydro cool firming face gels for forehead (6 g):
Number of masks: 1
Goal: Use it
Did I reach my goal: YES
Bio Effect – eye mask (2 sheets x 1,25 g):
Number of masks: 1
Goal: Use it
Did I reach my goal: YES

Other goals for 2022 were:
  1. Use eye shadows I own, to make similar looks to palettes I would like to own - did I reach this goal? Not so much.
  2. Keep an ongoing wish list - this I have done all year, and managed only to buy one eye palette
  3. Use a face mask once a week - this maybe stuck with me for 12 weeks - then it was forgotten, but I do plan to make it a goal of 2023.
  4. De-clutter old items from my collection - this I did yes, when I decluttered one eyshadow palette, a eyeshadow single and four lip products out of my stash.
  5. Use nail polish once a month - maybe used in January and February
  6. No mascara purchase in 2022 - I did buy one mini one as a part of the Sephora Favorites set.
  7. No nail polish purchase in 2022 - I did not buy one, but was gifted one as a part of the Guinot Advent calendar
  8. No body lotion purchase in 2022 - fail as I did buy one small one from Sol DeJanero.

Out of the ten main products in this project pan, I managed to hit my goal with three of them, which turns out to be a better result than from the two previous years 2021 and 2020. Even though 3 out of 10 does not sound so good, which makes me want to do better in 2023.

Do you have too much makeup and could do with a "project pan"?

Project pan 2022

This year as in the the years before, I want to continue tracking my purchases and focusing on use some stuff up! So for 2022 I have selected ten items as usual I want to focus on, plus a few bonus items.

The products I want to "hit pan on" in 2022

Mac paint pot and Milani powder at start of 2022

Extra items I want to finish in 2022

Yves Saint Laurent - Volupté tint in oil – No. 4 (6 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022 (with packaging - as for all of the products): 20 g
Goal: Finish it
Why: This was a part of my beauty goals for 2020 (at the start of the year it weighted 25 g) – and it is really about time to finish it up
Milk Makeup – Lip+Cheek – Werk (6 g):
Weight at the start of 2022: 20 g
Goal: Use this as my primary cheek product for 2022
Why: As I have a few cream blushes now, I have to start using some of them before they go bad
Elizabeth Arden – Green tea honey drops body cream (500 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 368 g
Goal: Finish it up
Why: this was a part of my beauty goals for 2020, which I later in the year swapped out for the Jergens cream – this cream weighed 427 g at the beginning of 2020 – now it is it’s time on the chopping block!
Estée Lauder – Advanced night repair (7 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 16 g
Goal: Use it up
Why:There is little product left of this item, so why not finish it and be able to move it out of my collection
Grande lash MD – Lash enhancing serum (2 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 20 g
Goal: Use it 2x a week
Why: I am not sure I can tolerate this product every day as you are supposed to – so I want to use it up this year by using it 2x a week
Lumene – Instant glow beauty serum (30 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 70 g
Goal: Finish it up
Why: This product was a part of my beauty goals for 2021, I did not use it up, and it is one of my oldest foundations in my collection
Lancóme – Hydra Zen Jelly mask (15 ml):
Weight at the start of 2022: 18 g
Goal: Use it up
Why: it is a small tester and can be used up easily
Mac – Pro longwear paint pot – Groundwork (5 g):
Weight at the start of 2022: 53 g
Goal: See a difference in the dip in the pan
Why: I continue to put one of my cream eye products into the project each year, and now it’s time for this Mac paint pot
Milani – Prep+Set+Glow illuminating transparent powder (8,5 g):
Weight at the start of 2022: 43 g
Goal: Hit pan
Why: To rotate my powders, as I tend to use the same one all the time
Clarins – Lipliner pencil – 02 nude beige (1,2 g):
Length at the start of 2022: 12 cm
Goal: Use 2 cm of product
Why: This lipliner was a part of my beauty goals for 2020, but with Covid and mask-life I only used up 0,2 cm of it. This year I really hope to do better, and will be able to incorporate lip liners into my daily makeup routine. As well as it could be a good combo with the YSL lip oil

This year I decided to add on a few extras:
Crest – Noticeably white whitestrips – dental whitening kit (20 total strips):
Number of packs at the start of 2022: 5 packs of strips
Goal: Use it up
Why: I just got a dental clean late December 2021 – so it is perfect to use them up now as all the dental plaque has been removed.
Dr. Bragi – Marine enzyme intensive treatment mask (10 ml):
Number of masks: 1
Goal: Use it
Why: I tend to let things lay too long in my stash and not use it
Skyn Iceland - Hydro cool firming face gels for forehead (6 g):
Number of masks: 1
Goal: Use it
Why: To get rid of some of my masks
Bio Effect – eye mask (2 sheets x 1,25 g):
Number of masks: 1
Goal: Use it
Why: It has technically expired so let’s use it up

Other goals:
  1. Use eye shadows I own, to make similar looks to palettes I would like to own
  2. Keep an ongoing wish list
  3. Use a face mask once a week
  4. De-clutter old items from my collection
  5. Use nail polish once a month
  6. No mascara purchase in 2022
  7. No nail polish purchase in 2022
  8. No body lotion purchase in 2022

What about you - any goals?

Empties January - December 2021

So here is the whole lot I used up of beauty products in 2021...

Products I finished in 2021

The rest of the products I used up in 2021

Essence - stay all day concealer - 10 natural beige (7 ml): this was a product was a part of my beauty goals for 2021, and I managed to finish it in the first half of 2021

Essence - Lash Princess mascara (12 ml): This remains a hyped up mascara on YT, I did not like the brush though, found the wand a bit too big, and I do prefer a plastic bristle brush. So it tended to smudge a bit when I was applying it on my hooded eyes - might buy again in a pinch.

Lumene - Vitamin C+ anti-puffiness roll-on eye serum (10 ml): This was a part of my beauty goals for 2021, I managed to use the little product that remained in it. Glad it is finished as I am sure the C vitamin has probably lost it's potency since I bought it.

Lancome - Bi-Facil double action eye makeup remover (200 ml): This is absolutely my favorite eye-makeup remover and I will for sure continue to repurchase it.

The body shop - Aloe Calming toner (250 ml): This is absolutely my favorite toner, and I always continue to purchase it as long as the Body shop makes it.

Lumene - Intense hydration 24 hour moisturizer (50 ml): One of my favorite day creams, soft and I love the scent soft and mild.

Cover Girl - Ready set gorgeous - 115 (30 ml): This foundation was unsuccessfully a part of my beauty goals for 2019, and surprisingly the tube seemed to be never ending, as more and more product came out of it's nozzle.

Skyn Iceland - Pure Cloud Cream (10 ml): Continuing on the theme from last year to use up my testers, this is a very light cream and probably most suitable for oily skin, as my skin is combo, and this was a product I used in the autumn, it was not the best for me, as even though having a combo skin, I sometimes have a dry skin surface, and this cream really did not play along well with that. Never the same I managed to finish it.

Dr. Organic - Organic Manuka Honey hand and nail cream (125 ml): this hand cream is by far the best hand cream I have ever tried.

Hurraw - Grapefruit lip balm (4.3 gr): This lip balm is average, not the greatest and not the worst.

Artdeco - Soft eyeliner waterproof, 16 (1.2 g): this eyeliner is super close to Mac Teddy eye-kohl, but this is not an empties as such. But a declutter, I have Mac teddy in my stash - and this one is getting a bit old, and I rarely use it, so it's time to declutter it.

Sephora - Macadamia hand masks (1 pair): After a season of excessive hand washing and hand sanitizing, this was exactly what the dr. ordered, and my god did each glove come with a lot of product!! After my first use, I stored it in the fridge, and used the day after, and right after using it on my hands for the 2nd time, I threw the "gloves" on my feet and used them as a partial foot mask!

Blue Lagoon - Algae mask ice cube (7 ml): this is a fairly strong mask, so I did not have this on for very long. But my skin felt squeaky clean afterwards.

Dr. Hauschka - Hand creme (10 ml): Another tester used up - yey!! Actually I expected this hand cream to be better than it was, considering it was from Dr. Hauschka. Would choose Dr. Organic any day!

L'oréal Paris Elvital - Steam mask - for long damaged hair (20 ml): This hair-mask even came with it's own shower cap, and a whole lot of product!! And the dry ends of my hair felt super soft afterwards.

John Frieda - Frizz Ease hair serum (3 ml): Another tester done, this product is always nice from time to time. But I am not much of a hair-person so usually I do not fuss too much with my hair.

The labs organics - Hyalurornic serum 200 (1 ml): Another tester used up in 2021, this tester was way too small to be able to say anything about the product though.

Inglot lab - Hydrating day serum (1 ml): The same goes for this tester, as the last one, too small to be able to say anything about the product.

Did you use up a lot this year?

Empties May - December 2019

So there has been some time since I did an empties tally..

Empties May - December

 More empties

Sóley - Græðir hand cream (50 ml): An excellent moisturizing hand cream, rich enough to make your hands feel soft, but not so thick and rich your hands feel greasy.
Garnier - Micellar cleansing water (125 ml): One of my absolute favorite micellar water in a perfect travel size.
Sephora - Triple action cleansing water face & eyes (400 ml): An average cleansing water, still I prefer the Garnier one, but I love the packaging on this one.
La Roche-Posay - Anthelios lotion SPF 30 (250 ml): I picked this one up in Greece 2017, and managed to finish it this summer on the sundeck at my Boston hotel.
L'occitane - Verveine - cooling hand cream (30 ml): A super light hand cream, not very moisturizing at all.
Bio Effect - EGF serum (5 ml): A small sample size I was gifted. Not my favorite, as it is super sticky after you apply it to your face, but will still use up samples I am given.
Bio Effect - Micellar cleansing water (30 ml): A perfect size to take travelling, a good micellar water, not sure it is worth the regular price tag, which does not apply to me as this was gifted to me.
Avon - Moroccan argan oil (30 ml): An excellent hair oil I used in the ends of my hair, which was a part of my "beauty goals for 2019".
Dr. Hauschka - Facial toner (10 ml): This tester has totally changed my ideas about toners, it is amazing to have it in a sprey bottle, so you can forget messing around with cotton pads. You simply sprey it on and you are done. Good on the environment as well.
Lumene - Arctic spring water enriched - facial mist (100 ml): The product itself is amazing, but I do not like the mister on the bottle, as it spreys such a super fine mist, it kind of sits on top of your peach fuzz above your skin. I just put it in another sprey bottle and it worked perfectly.
Vichy - Aqualia thermal serum (30 ml): LOVE this serum, perfect for sensitive skin. The only grievance is the fact the pump straw, does not reach to the bottom of the bottle. So you have to tip the bottle over to get all the product out.
Lumene - Bright now vitamin C eye cream (15 ml): The time stamp on this product states it is good for 12 months after opening. But how on earth can anyone finish a 15 ml bottle of eye cream in one year? Certainly not me! This I have had for two or three years. Finally I manage to finish it, the only thing though is the fact the eye cream I am using now is 30 ml. Please cosmetics companies can you just make eye creams that come in 10 ml bottles?
Supergoop - Daily correct CC cream - Broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 35 (tester): I got a tester of this product, as it is a 100% mineral sunscreen. And I do in deed love it. It is a bit stiff, as mineral sunscreens tend to be, but perfect under makeup!
Sensai - Concealer brush type - SPF 15 - CB02 Medium (2,6 ml): This concealer lasted for ages, even though it only contains 2,6 ml of product, same again is supposed to be used 12 months after opening. I am pretty sure I had it for two years though. It now has been discontinued, and now comes in a different packaging, with different shade names.
Weleda - Everon lip balm (4,8 g): I completely used this lip balm up to the bone, as I scraped all of the product out from the base. An excellent lip product.
Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara volume Babydoll (2 ml): I have had a tester of this mascara before, and omg even in the tester form it is AMAZING.
Drunk Elephant - Umbra Tinte - Physical daily defense broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 (tester): This I also decided to try as it is a purely mineral sunscreen. I prefer this type over the one from Supergoop. Still the one from Supergoop is better if you want to use it without makeup as it is more sheer in color.
Dr. Hauschka - Rose daycream (1,5 ml): A super thick moisturizer, so thick you start to pull and tug on your skin. The cream felt good once on, but too much of a hassle to spread out.
Nature Republic - Real nature hydrogel mask - Aloe vera (22 g): This sheetmask came with whopping 22 g of product. I used the sheetmask itself, once, and poured the rest of the liquid that was remaining in the packaging into a little jar, and was able to use the remains of the product several times, just spreading it out on my skin as a liquid mask and leaving it on for a few minutes.
Skyn Iceland - Hydro cool firming face gels for smile lines (3,1 g): When I was going through my stash of testers in the afternoon on new years eve, I came across this product. And as it felt really hard in the packaging, I decided to open it up, to see if it had dried out. Not at all, what I felt was the plastic tray the mask-pads come in. So there was nothing else to do than to put the mask on for the 10 minutes before doing my makeup for new years eve dinner at my sisters house.
Shea Moissture - African black soap (230 g): This soap has totally saved my perioral dermatitis. I bought it on a recommendation from a perioral dermatitis group on Facebook. Have repurchased already.

Did you finish anything up recently?

On a sample roll

I guess you could say I am on a sample roll at the moment, as I have been taking advantage of the fact that you can get a free sample of almost any item they offer at Sephora. Which is perfect for my sensitive skin which does not seem to tolerate any given product. So it is perfect to be able to test it before purchasing.

Sephora samples

 Samples and a blush
Beauty on the fly bag  - picture borrowed from Sephora.com

Sephora mask and Skyn Iceland eye mask

I would highly recommend to anyone to get a sample of the product you want to try out in Sephora, as one of these little pots lasts for several applications, so you can get a real feel for the product. And these were the three products I was keen to try:
It cosmetics - Your skin but better CC+ cream with SPF 50+ (fair);  This one at first try I really thought would not suit my perioral dermatitis-prone skin. As I got a few bums around my mouth after the fist application, but the trick with this one is to apply a thin layer. The first try I applied way to thick of a layer as I did't know the pigmentation would be so great. This I love to apply with a beauty blender, and it is quite likely that I would like to buy this in the future, as it has a high SPF factor, given that I probably do not apply it thickly enough to get the full effect of the 50+ SPF, but it might get to a 25 or 30 with how I apply the product. Full info here.
BareMinerals - Complexion rescue tinted moisturizer (opal); I used to LOVE the Garnier miracle cream, which was a light tinted face cream with SPF 20. I think that this might be something light and similar to that one, or I could use it as a base for other foundations which do not contain SPF. Full info here
Drunk Elephant - Umbra tinte physical daily defense broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30; this I thought could be a perfect first step, including SPF, before applying a foundation which does not include an SPF, which I have in my arsenal. I also have a foundation which has only an SPF 15 so this could be the perfect base. Full info here. Have yet not tried it.
Benefit - Hervana blush (7 gr); I was missing a light pink blush in "my collection" and had really wanted to try one of the Benefit box powders, so I stumbled upon this particular blush in the Benefit store in Boston, where I had my brows done as well. I would have preferred to buy it in Sephora, and get points for my purchase, but as Sephora does not carry this color anymore, I opted to buy it in a Benefit store. And I love the color, a perfect everyday color, which is the type of a color I tend to get the most use out of.
Madara - Anti polution CC cream SPF 15 (light beige and medium beige) (2 x 2ml); I can't even remember where I heard about this product for the first time. But I was lucky enough to grab a sample in a store in Reykjavik, and got both shades as me and the sales associate could not figure out which color would suit me better. But I figured that this might suit the same purpose as the Drunk Elephant umbra tinte spf sunscreen, to be used underneath a foundation which does not contain any spf. Full info here.
Sephora - Beauty on the fly bag; I grabbed this one in Sephora as I needed a small bag under my liquid products I keep in my cabin bag on the regular (a micellar water and toner). So I opted for this bag.
Sephora - Ultra moisturizing and brightening Rose face mask: I got this as a sample with my purchase when I got the Sephora Beauty on the fly bag. A pretty good deal here to get a mask worth 6 USD with a beauty bag for 4.95 USD. Full info here
Skyn Iceland - Hydro cool firming eye gels with hexapeptide technology (3,2 gr - one pair); One of my co-workers swears by this, so much he gave all of the members of our crew a pair of these. It is supposed to firm and de-puff in 10 minutes, and it is recommended to use this treatment once a week. Full info here

Have you tried out any of these?
